Microsoft Changes May Impact Your Cloud Subscription

February 23, 2022

As a Microsoft partner, we wanted to let you know about some changes that Microsoft is making to the Cloud Solution Provider model.

Changes to Cloud Licensing

As a Microsoft partner, we wanted to let you know about some changes that Microsoft is making to the Cloud Solution Provider (“CSP”) model, which is how many organizations are licensing their cloud products today.

  • You can still add licenses during any point throughout the term of your subscription but will no longer be able to reduce the number of licenses during the term of the subscription
  • You will have 72-hours after the start of your subscription to cancel the entire subscription or reduce licenses for a refund
  • You can mix and match different subscription terms lengths and billing frequencies to meet the needs of your business

This change only impacts commercial (i.e. no Government, Education, or Nonprofit) customers as of today.

Existing customers will be transitioned to this new model starting July 2022, however there are some advantages to moving early. Not only can you lock in 12 months of price protection on the six popular SKUs that are increasing in price, but you can also leverage a short-term promotion that is specific to the new licensing model.
