Maximizing Your Investment in Dynamics GP
The ERP Team at Heartland Business Systems (“HBS”) continues to invest in the Microsoft Dynamics GP solution, Dynamics GP user groups, and the third-party ecosystem. We find that Dynamics GP continues to be a reliable and viable offering for our clients. HBS continues to add staff to support our practice and provide an excellent customer experience. In addition, Microsoft continues to invest in improving the functionality of the system. They recently released a roadmap for Dynamics GP that extends to 2023!

As a mature ERP package, Dynamics GP offers full multi-currency support (not just in G/L but throughout inventory, purchasing, sales and other integrated modules). It has several options for supporting manufacturing, including full featured material and capacity requirement planning systems. The Human Resource Management module can be use stand-alone or tightly integrated into payroll, allowing you to start using the features you need as you grow.

Within the past 10 years, Microsoft released Dynamics GP’s “web client” in order to provide an effective way to utilize Dynamics GP on mobile devices. Most recently, they added OData services which support industry-standard ways of retrieving data from Dynamics GP for analysis and reporting purposes. It provides a structured interface for today’s BI (Business Intelligence) tools to gather the data that allows them to provide value. Coupled with the powerful integration capabilities found in eOne’s SmartConnect app, you can integrate data to and from Excel, CRM systems, web sites, and other applications you need to utilize.

But, like many assets, some periodic investment in your ERP system is required to get the most out of it. These investments can include:
  • Reassessing how you are using the system
  • Providing effective training to new team members
  • Extending the system’s functionality with targeted apps and additional modules when new needs arise‚Äč
Although you may have heard that Dynamics GP is going away, this is false. Dynamics GP continues to get new features and capabilities each year. To help determine which improvements need to be made, Microsoft is using end-user feedback. Click here to submit your ideas for Dynamics GP improvements to Microsoft.

If you need any assistance in assessing how you can maximize your investment in Dynamics GP, our ERP Team at HBS is here to help!
