Exploring the state-of-the-art technologies and partnerships of the Fiserv Forum

Milwaukee Bucks and Heartland Business Systems Press ReleaseSelected as a sub-contractor by Abaxent, LLC (“Abaxent”) and Johnson Controls (“JCI”); Heartland Business Systems, LLC (“HBS”), completed work that provided state-of-the-art technology solutions throughout the new Fiserv Forum. Based in Wisconsin, HBS is a technology leader with over 150 skilled engineers in Wisconsin alone. These solutions will look to boost fan experience with an innovative approach for future generations.

“HBS has been providing a variety of technology solutions to organizations in the Greater Milwaukee Area for over 25 years. We believe that innovation and corporate partnerships support our customers’ value creation strategy through the technology they use day-to-day. The opportunity Abaxent and JCI has given HBS was a challenge, but one we met with innovation and timeliness. We are excited to have been a part of this great investment in downtown Milwaukee, and look forward to delivering a winning experience to fans for years to come,” said Peter Helander, CEO and Founder of Heartland Business Systems.

HBS provided innovative technology solutions including wired and wireless networking, converged infrastructure, voice, and digital signage. With HBS connecting over 800 displays, fans will be able to watch the game anywhere in the building. All network switching, firewalls, and infrastructure was designed and implemented by HBS, which features over 600 access points for exceptional Wi-Fi coverage. In partnership with AccelTex, HBS co-developed an innovative handrail-mounted antenna that is aesthetically appealing and doesn’t compromise fan sight lines. The 76 handrail-mounted antennas within the arena deliver rock-solid, fast, reliable network connectivity that can’t always be achieved through overhead or beneath-the-seat antennas. This innovative feature will be reproduced in future stadiums around the country. With this feature in place, the team has seen 1.8 Terabytes of data transferred through the network during a single event.

The new Fiserv Forum is the centerpiece of an ambitious development project spearheaded by Bucks ownership to transform 27-acres of mostly vacant property into a vibrant retail and entertainment district in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Open now, the 714,000 square foot arena is the home to Milwaukee Bucks basketball and countless sports and entertainment events. The new arena was designed by Populous, Eppstein Uhen and HNTB, with Mortenson completing the construction of the project. For more information, visit www.fiservforum.com.
