Heartland Business Systems Ranked a Top Internship for Diversity in Respect for Women

We are excited to announce that Heartland Business Systems placed #28 out of 139 programs in Firsthand's 2023 Best Internship for  Diversity with Respect to Women annual survey.  HBS came in #28 out of 139 programs, with only the top 30 programs getting ranked. 

Firsthand surveyed thousands of current and former interns about their internship programs, asking them to assess their experiences on a variety of different factors. Recognizing the importance of a diverse and inclusive environment, Vault has devoted a separate section to interns' ratings with respect to diversity. The 2023 rankings are based on the results of the 2022 Internship Survey conducted in the summer of 2022. 

To compile the 2023 Firsthand Top Internships Rankings, Firsthand surveyed more than 11,400 current and former interns in the summer of 2022. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest, respondents were asked to rate their internship experiences in six core areas: 

• Quality of Life (company culture, hours, work-life balance, flexibility) 
• Compensation & Benefits (pay structure, subsidized expenses, technology resources, office space, perks) 
• Interview Process (application process, requirements, number of interviews) 
• Career Development (including four separate ratings for training and mentoring, quality of assignments, real-life experience, networking opportunities) 
• Full-time Employment Prospects (opportunity to obtain a full-time job with this organization) 
• Diversity (including four separate ratings for diversity with respect to women, racial & ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other underrepresented groups) 

Programs were then ranked in a dozen categories based on the average rating given by their interns, including the following areas specifically related to diversity, inclusive of culture, hiring, and mentoring: 

• Overall Diversity (score represents average of ratings for diversity with respect to women, racial & ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other underrepresented groups) 
• Diversity with Respect to Women 
• Racial & Ethnic Diversity 
• LGBTQ+ Diversity
