Want to Move from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central?

If you’re looking to migrate from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central, there are a few things to help with that process.  First, Microsoft is offering a Bridge to the Cloud promotion to move to Dynamics 365 Business Central.  Secondly, there are tools available to simplify the process and shorten the implementation cycle.

Microsoft Cloud Licensing Promotion

Microsoft is offering a cloud promotion to allow you to have dual licenses of Dynamics GP and Dynamics 365 Business Central.  For the cost of your GP renewal, you can receive Dynamics 365 Business Central licenses at a 40% discount.  There are a few requirements that must be met to take advantage of the promotion.  The dollar amount of the Business Central licenses after the discount must be at the dollar value of your renewal.  The promotion is a three-year commitment for Dynamics 365 Business Central licensing.  After three years, you will need to be fully transitioned to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Dynamics GP Migration Tool

Microsoft provides a Dynamics GP migration tool built-into Business Central. This tool allows you to migrate several basic modules and limited historical data from your Dynamics GP server directly into Dynamics Business Central. This tool has been drastically improved over the last few years, and Microsoft continues to develop and improve it with each Business Central update.

The migration tool is simple to run and provides you a jump-start to their Business Central setup process. The following data is included in the GP to Business Central migration tool:

  • G/L Account data and account balances.
  • Customer data and outstanding receivables.
  • Vendor data, outstanding payables, and open purchase orders.
  • Inventory data and quantities.

Along with current master data and transactions, companies may also choose to migrate limited historical transactional data into Business Central. For you to take advantage of the GP to Business Central migration tool there are a few requirements:
