NSA Urges Immediate Patching for Critical PHP2Shell Vulnerabilities
It takes a serious bug to get the NSA writing press releases about PHP. The agency is urging organizations to patch critical flaws nicknamed PHP2Shell, which can give attackers control of a web server with no login required. The bugs live in PHP itself, so clean application code and careful configuration offer no protection. Any server on an affected version is exposed.
PHP shipped fixes October 21, and SecurityWeek reports exploitation started days before that. NSA’s guidance is blunt: inventory everything that runs PHP, add logging, retire end-of-life versions and take systems offline when patching isn’t possible. NSA says the risk warrants immediate patching across the federal government. PHP sits under WordPress and a huge share of the web, so the private sector should move as fast.

INTERPOL Disrupts 10,909 Cybercrime Networks, Recovers $105 Million
INTERPOL’s third Serengeti operation wrapped with 1,462 arrests, 10,909 malicious networks disrupted and more than $105 million recovered. Police in 20 African countries and the United States ran the two-month sweep, backed by threat intel from partners including Group-IB and Team Cymru. Ugandan authorities arrested 365 foreign nationals tied to investment and pension fraud aimed at victims across Asia. Angola shut down two illegal crypto mining centers and seized 2,000 rigs plus six illegal power transformation stations.
A Nigerian suspect was arrested over a phishing and BEC operation that harvested about 2.1 million email addresses. The bigger number is $385 million. That’s how much investigators tied to these networks in losses, putting recovery at roughly 27 cents on the dollar.
